What We Believe
God's Word
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, consisting of sixty-six books in the Old and New Testaments, verbally and plenarily inspired and without error in its original manuscripts. It is written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and it has been preserved by God through the ages so as to be authentic and reliable to every generation. It is the only supreme and ultimate authority for faith and practice. The Children’s Bible Society uses the King James Version in its resources. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Matthew 5:18; I Corinthians 2:10-13)
Godhead
We believe there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, eternal, self-existing, perfect spirit. He is a personal Being, the Creator and Upholder of the universe. He exists in three Persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit- who are eternal in being, identical in essence, equal in power and glory, and having the same divine attributes and perfections, yet having distinct functions. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:14; John 14:7-12; 16:7; Philippians 2:5-6)
The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful mankind. (John 1:1-2, 14; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; 7:14; Philippians 2:5-8; Galatians 4:4-5)
The Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His finished work on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Romans 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 1:3-5)
The Lord Jesus Christ was raised bodily and that He ascended to Heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 9:24, 7:25; Romans 8:34; I John 2:1-2)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with the Father and the Son and of the same nature. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; bears witness to the truth; is the agent of the new birth; and He seals, endues, guides, teaches, witnesses to, sanctifies, and helps the believer. The Holy Spirit testifies concerning Jesus Christ and never leads any person, at any time, contrary to the teaching of the Bible. (John 14:16, 17, 26; John 15:26-27; John 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 13:8, 9-11; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18)
Creation
We believe God created the heavens and the earth- including all life, by direct act, and not by any process of evolution. The days of creation in Genesis 1 were 24-hour days. Man was created directly in God’s own image and after His own likeness. (Genesis 1-2; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17)
Satan
We believe in the reality of the person of Satan and that he and the fallen angels wage a spiritual warfare against the plan and purposes of God. (John 13:2; Acts 5:3; Ephesians 6:11-12) Satan is a created angelic being who rebelled and who tempted man to join him in rebellion against God (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; Genesis 3:1-5). His power is supernatural, yet limited; and that he cannot act without the permission of God. (Job 1:6-12; I John 4:4) Satan’s eternal end is everlasting torment in the Lake of Fire. (Revelation 20:10)
Salvation
We believe that the only way of salvation is by grace-made possible by the substitutionary death of the Son of God-received by one’s personal faith. We believe that the salvation of every believer is secure for all eternity from the moment of regeneration. This security is guaranteed by the fact that the life received is eternal life, by the keeping power of God, by the sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit, and by the interceding ministry of Christ. (Philippians 1:6; John 3:16; John 10:28-29; Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; John 5:24; Romans 8:38-39)
The Church
We believe in the Church-a living, spiritual body of which Christ is the Head. (Matthew 16:16-18; I Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:27; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 5:25-27)
All Christians are to live in fellowship with a local, Bible-believing church (as portrayed in the New Testament), uniting in its worship of the triune God, supporting the great commission, and loving one another with pure and sincere hearts. (Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 11:17-33, 16:2; Hebrews 10:23-25, 13:17)
The Future
We believe our Lord Jesus Christ will personally and bodily return in glory as He has promised, and He will consummate His kingdom. Christ will judge the living and the dead at his appearing. (John 6:39-40, 12:48; Acts 1:9-11; I Peter 4:5)
We believe all shall be raised from the dead: those who have died in Christ to eternal life in Heaven and those who have rejected him to conscious and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire (hell). (Daniel 12:2, Matthew 13:49-50, 25:41-46; Luke 12:5; I Corinthians 15:12-26; Revelation 21:8)
We believe that Satan, who is a personal spiritual adversary of both God and mankind, will be judged and cast into the lake of fire (hell) for eternity. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10)
